A seasoned entrepreneur and business leader, David has a strong background in technology, clean energy, capital formation, cybersecurity, and risk management. He has proven success in developing innovative and transformative ideas and driving strategic plans that turn “big visions” into value-added solutions and successful companies. As CEO and Co-Founder of Better Future Farms, David is responsible for strategic planning and overall execution, providing guidance and direction for all aspects of the company’s operations.

 Before launching Better Future Farms, David co-founded and was CEO and Board member of Mission Secure, a leading control system cybersecurity company. He was responsible for strategic planning and execution. He raised tens of millions in venture capital, recruited a world class team, and advised leaders in industry, defense and government on control system cybersecurity. He remains on the Board of Directors. 

Earlier, David was CEO, co-founder and Board member at Gravity Renewables, a private equity-backed clean energy company based in Boulder, CO focused on acquiring, refurbishing, owning and operating small hydroelectric power plants. At Gravity, David was exposed first-hand to automation and sustainability. David and his investor team successfully exited Gravity in early 2014. 

David is also an angel investor who founded The Ballast Fund to invest in early stage, technology and clean energy start-ups. In this role, he led a number of investments and provides business and financial expertise to the portfolio company CEOs. He was a board member of Trusted Metrics, a cybersecurity firm acquired by SolarWinds. 

David was also CEO and co-founder of Roam Secure, a leading provider of emergency alerting systems. Roam Secure was created to help address emergency response communications and mass notification issues discovered in the wake of 9/11. Cooper Industries, a Fortune 500 Company, now part of Eaton Corporation, purchased Roam Secure in 2007.  

Beginning his career at KPMG, David is a certified public accountant and earned a BSc Economics & Finance from The London School of Economics. He speaks fluent German, enjoys skiing, biking, traveling and spending time on the farm with his family.
